Travel; Dublin your weather sucks

Oh Dublin, where do I begin!

Terrible Terrible weather 90% of the time but very very pretty and a lot smaller than I expected as well.

My first day in Dublin I ended up walking to O’Connell street and having a look at some of the old buildings and churches that surround this area and then was wandering around on my way to Grafton street which is about when the weather turned to crap, very strong winds and rain, so I walked for a bit then decided this was ridiculous and ducked into the nearest pub for lunch and to dry out a bit. Once I’d finished my lunch (chicken burger, it was awesome) the rain had stopped however the wind was still there so continued on my journey to Grafton street and did some shopping around this area and in the St Stephens Gate shopping center as well just to keep out of the wind and rain which came back again later. Luckily I managed to get back to the hostel in between spurts of rain.

The next day the weather was forecasted to be even worse but from about 11am onwards so I made a rough plan of places I really wanted to see before I left (and the rain came) and then searched for things to do when it rains in Dublin (seems to be a common search BTW!) and set my alarm to get up early enough to get it done and dusted before the rain arrived.

I ended up going past both the Christ Church Cathedral and St Patrick’s Cathedral and wandering around that area before going to Dublinia which is a small interactive museum which has three different levels, one for Vikings, one for medieval Dublin and the last was one about how they dig up artifacts and what not. The third level was a bit boring for me after two other floors I’d kind of had enough of being in a museum but the first two levels were pretty cool for something to do indoors.

Overall I did enjoy Dublin but damn that weather, rain OR wind please Dublin, both isn’t necessary! I wouldn’t bother with any public transport if I went back to Dublin either as everything is within walking distance unless you want to go to something out of town obviously, oh and excluding the airport bus.

I’d love to go back to Ireland and check out some of the other parts and smaller villages, maybe next time…

Next up Mall after Mall and a Desert Safari in Dubai.
