I didn’t end up doing a things I love post last month as things were just far too hectic so it went to the bottom of the list of things to do. Fingers crossed things will start to slow down a little bit from here on out, for the rest of the year at least.
I have one more month of working full time, running bootcamp sessions, planning on weekends as well as running three facebook pages, two twitter accounts and three instagram accounts, oh and did I mention trying to have a life and fitting in my own training as well? #lesigh
Good thing I love being busy! Here’s the things I’m loving this month:
// Feeling Strong
After a few months of no structured training programme and some random internet searching I decided that I want to enter a powerlifting competition.
We ended up in Levin last Sunday afternoon for a seminar on powerlifting technique which was awesome as it cemented what we already knew and we came away with a few extra little tips to help us get the most out of our lifts.
The above photo is of me squatting 80kg, it’s not the most I’ve done but I am feeling super strong now that I am starting to progress again with my lifts. I am really happy with my form and learnt a couple of extra tips to help keep the form in tact when going for my one rep max.
// Movies
One of our New Years Resolutions this year was to go too the movies more often. We haven’t been quite as many times as we would have liked, partly because we have been so busy and partly because there hasn’t been anything decent on. We went and saw the new Mad Max on the weekend (not a fan), and will be heading in to watch the Entourage movie as soon as it comes out! I was annoyed that Wild didn’t seem to come out in the Wanganui theaters, or if it did I missed it!
// Pana Chocolate
I have been wanting to try Pana Chocolate for a long time now but never got around too it as I cringe every time I see the price tag for such a small bar. I have no problem paying for quality but at around $8 for a 45gm bar the accountant in me just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I was very lucky that I won a competition for a bar for myself and a friend (who conveniently was Kyle) so I got to try two different flavours. [Don’t worry I did share!] We tried the chocolate mint and the coconut and goji, they were both a lot stronger than I expected for a raw chocolate and I did really enjoy them. As for the price tag, I still don’t think they will be a regular occurrence for me just for this factor.
// Skin care
I am terrible at doing anything remotely good for my skin. I have been leaving my Moreish Skincare that I was sent on my desk at work which turns out to be a good way for me to actually do something good for my skin at least 5 days per week. Baby steps on the skin care routine!
I don’t actually know what Argan Oil is supposed to do for you but I have been using it along with the moisturiser each day at work and by the end of the week my skin is looking better. I then end up doing nothing over the weekend #sigh. I really like the smell of the cleanser which I have in the shower.
// Scent of the month
I am currently warming Black Raspberry Vanilla and it smells amazing. Just the right amount of fruitiness with a hint of subtle vanilla. Yes please! There is an AMAZING deal going at the moment for a half price teapot warmer and bar of a new scent – if you’re interested the sale ends end of May and you can order HERE.
What things have you been loving this month??
So excited about your powerlifting thing. SO COOL! I told Ricky all about it, and he thinks it’s awesome too π
I really wanna see Mad Max (last movie we saw was The Avengers: Age of Ultron which I’m so obsessed with), sad to see you’re not a fan! I can’t even tell you how excited I am for Jurassic World. I swear this year has some of the best movies coming out!
Camille’s reviewing all the Moreish stuff at the moment, and is really liking it so far!
I am super excited too although scared too! Sounds like the comp is going to be in July sometime now, they are pretty average at organising things! I’m such a weird one with movies I only really like ones that could have realistic plots lol, maybe one day you’ll convince me otherwise π
Would love to see Camilles review – I don’t really understand skincare stuff but since it’s on my desk I’m actually using it which is a big bonus!
I love your round ups for the month.
You look so good doing the powerlifting. What a great new venture! Bet you and Kyle are super good at supporting each other π
Yay I’m glad someone actually reads them π
Thanks hun, I LOVE that photo of me, and I usually hate photos!
Good luck with the Power Lifting! I’m super impressed!
I’m so conflicted about the new Mad Max movie -I love the totally kick ass chicks and the world building, but the ridiculousness of it all makes it hard to get into.
Pana Choc is available at Wild Oats for $5. Still ridiculous, but more justifiable.
That is a lot more reasonable, is Wild Oats in Auckland?
Wild is definitely worth a watch. I’d like to see Entourage too and my husband just went to Mad Max and thought it was awful too.
I’ll have to get wild out on DVD or get netflix or something then! Yay so glad another male didn’t like Mad Max, so far it seems it’s only females agreeing with me!
You’re the first person I’ve heard say they didn’t love Mad Max! I’m thinking about going to see it this weekend. (Wild is on Apple TV now if you have that. Loved that movie.)
The chocolate looks delicious, when I buy an expensive bar I make it last a very LONG time!
At only 6 small pieces it is hard to keep it going for a long time π
I love the idea of going to the movies more often. It is so fun and something that fewer people do now with having access to movies at home through Netflix, etc. Wild is at the top of my list of movies to see.
i was wondering how mad max was going to be. i heard recently that spy was surprisingly very good.
