This past weekend was the first weekend since Mid April that I didn’t have netball (bonus of the school holidays I guess) or a workshop so we decided to head up to the lake (Taupo) for a relaxing weekend with not much planned. The bach was being used so we decided to stay in Taupo town – a first for me!
We stayed at the Silver Fern Lodge the first night and it was good for the price ($105 for a queen & single – 3 people), but oh boy those beds are HARD! The second night their were six of us so I booked a 6 bed dorm room with en suite at Taupo Urban Retreat, I thought it was really good hostel a bit small if you wanted to cook there but overall pretty good for the price ($25ea night), the only major downside being that they have a bar there which means you couldn’t chill out with your own drinks, although beers were like $5 and wine $3 all night so nothing to really complain about.
Taupo put on a beautiful weekend for us, to be honest the weekend was spent wandering around the town, eating, having a few drinks, going for a drive to Huka falls and playing mini golf. It was definitely a well deserved and needed weekend away without having any set plans.
In other news I have had my first full week at the gym without going away for work or having someone show me what to do! I think I did pretty well, my week looked a little something like this;
Monday; Planned on going to a class that had changed times (Grr) ended up doing an hour workout including half an hour cardio.
Tuesday; Standard gym workout in the morning (1 hr)
Wednesday; Gym workout in the morning (1hr), netball practice after work (1hr)
Thursday; Planned on going to a class which was consequently cancelled (really?!), ended up doing an hour and a half at the gym doing my normal workout and some extra cardio for fun (I had so much energy this day!).
Friday; Standard gym workout in the morning.
I am also on track this week to get to the gym at least four times, 1 netball game, 1 netball practice and a class at the gym. Now to keep this up and sort out my food (Le sigh!)
How has your exercised fared this week? Did you do anything exciting on the weekend?
I will leave you of a picture of random bra’s from an Irish pub we became regulars at for the weekend.
Whats your standard gym workout in the morning consist of, Amanda? I set out to do 15 minutes bike, 15 minutes running, 15 minutes cross trainer and 15 minute weights but thats a pretty low intensity workout it seems.
I have a workout planned for me by one of the trainers that changes every 8 weeks, its 15mins cardio of my choice (I usually do 2000m on the rowing machine or treadmill), then around 1/2hour of weights/abs, I do like 3 arm ones, two leg ones and two ab exercises, I do 3 reps of 15 for each exercise and the trainer has given me two different workouts so I just alternate between them if the machines I want to use are taken, then I do another 15mins cardio (Generally whatever one I didn’t do before my weights or one of the stationery bike things or the cross trainer).
Examples of my weights/abs workouts are dumbell press, leg press and situps while holding one of those small ball things. (Technical I know!)
