Move: September Exercise Wrap up

What feels like a very long time ago, I posted my weekly exercise efforts. This was mostly to keep me accountable while I was trying to form healthy exercise habits.

Now I’m in the habit (and love it!) of exercising all the time I thought I’d just do a monthly recap so I can see how the month went and see if I think I need to bump up or reduce the amount or type of exercise I’m doing.

So for September we have;

1st Arms @ Gym
2nd Rest
3rd Legs @ Gym
4th Full game of indoor netball
5th Arms @ Gym
6th Rest
7th Legs @ Gym (Double Session, Squats / Deadlifts)
8th Arms @ Gym
9th Rest
10th Legs @ Gym & 10 min on Stairmaster
11th Full game of indoor netball
12th Arms @ Gym
13th Rest
14th Legs @ Gym (Double Session, Squats / Deadlifts)
15th Arms @ Gym & 10 min on Stairmaster
16th Legs @ Gym (Feeling tired, slowed down the movements on leg extention & leg curl, really felt it!)
17th Rest (Was going to go to the gym but woke up feeling like I really needed a rest)
18th Full game of indoor netball & ARms @ Gym
19th Arms @ Gym
20th Rest
21st Legs @ Gym (Squats/Deadlifts/Lunges) – Made time for the gym before I left town for the weekend.
22nd About 30min light cardio at the gym
23rd Rest
24th Legs @ Gym (increased to 4 sets per exercise)
25th Full game of indoor netball
26th Rest (Mum surprised me by being in Auckland so went out with her and did a workout on Fri instead)
27th Arms @ Gym (increased to 4 sets per exercise)
28th Legs @ Gym (Squats/Deadlifts/Lunges)
29th Arms @ Gym (Prob only half a workout due to a mysterious wrist injury)
30th Rest

I have been trialing having two rest days a week this month, as well as limited cardio. I also began doing squats and deadlifts with the Olympic bar and have been making this session on the weekend so I can get in a really good workout and leave the gym feeling nice and tired.

Results wise I can’t really measure them other than how I am feeling as I don’t get my measurements done at this gym (I have contemplated buying some of those fat calipers so I can get an idea of what is changing). My weight has remained relatively steady, only going up or down a few hundred grams depending on the day and I have been eating what feels like substantially more than what I had been so all and all I am tracking along quiet well. I’ve had a couple days in the gym where I’ve been feeling really strong and have gone up in weights on a few exercises which shows I am building my strength.

How has your month fared exercise wise?

  1. You’re doing such a great job! Honestly, I’ve been doing a shitty one. I started tracking calories seriously and it was working, but I’ve hit a serious plateau due to lack of exercise…now even my eating has gone downhill. Motivational crisis!! However, I am very excited because I just ordered myself a FitBit which I think will be a great motivator for me to up my incidental exercise each day (the most accessible kind for me as a mummy of a crazy toddler). I am hoping it will make me much more of an awesome mum and that I will start to work towards goals better. I’m glad the weather is starting to get better now too – no excuses to not get out and go for a nice morning walk! x

    1. I think I’ve been lucky with the calorie side of things given the decent amount of exercise I’ve been doing. At least your managing the food side, think that’s a lot of the struggle. Yay summer is coming which should mean a lot more incidental exercise even If just going for a walk. I’d love to hear if the fit it helps with motivation to increase the incidental exercise too!
