I’ll let you in on a little secret… I can’t stand fizzy water. Like I really can not stand it, if I accidentally drink some not realising it’s fizzy water my gag reflex has to be controlled very well not to spit it out.
I’ve never been a huge fan of any fizzy drinks to be honest, coke and the likes have never really been my jam. I have tried a few of the sodastream syrups though since we got our machine and I have enjoyed the ones I have tried.
I’ve never tried making my own syrups before, so naturally I thought it would be a good idea to get a bunch of ingredients and give not one but two syrups a go! Today I have for you my lightened up Lime and Mint Cordial Syrup.
The sweetness in the syrup comes from the honey, whilst it still isn’t something you should be having every day as honey still does contain a lot of sugar, it can be made into a nice refreshing drink for a special occasion.
- 1.5 Cups Water
- 7 Tablespoons Lime Juice
- 3 Tablespoons Honey
- 15 Mint Leaves
- Cut the Mint leaves in half and add with the other ingredients to a saucepan.
- Cook until boiling then turn down the heat and leave on the stove for 5 minutes to reduce a little.
- Put into the fridge to cool, then use as a syrup with water.
You can use this syrup in a recipe I am putting up on Friday that will help make water a bit more fun 🙂
oooh yum, this sounds good! I can’t stand fizzy water either, but by midday my tap water is lukewarm and I always forget to put water in the fridge to chill. By the way, my Boohoo Fit review is up! I
