Just Shred It…

If you have been following along on twitter and possibly my exercise posts you may have noticed I’ve mentioned something called the 30 Day Shred – or the 30DS.

The 30DS is a DVD by Jillian Michaels – one of the Biggest Loser Trainers. It has 3 levels and each level has two people (as well as Jillian) showing you how to perform the exercises, one shows you modified easier versions and the other the full all guts blazing version.

I purchased the DVD from Amazon UK as they are having free shipping to NZ (if you spend over 25pounds) until August I think it is, and it was way cheaper than getting it here. I needed to get a DVD player that would play all regions though (We needed one anyway) and away I went.

The idea is to do Level 1 until you find it too easy then move on to level 2 etc and do it every day for 30days. Or every second day until you have done it 30 times or whatever combination you want to do.

So far I have done Level 1 around 10 times and gave level 2 a crack the other day (Oh my it was hard!), Jillian definately kicks your butt.

I highly reccomend it, it’s only a 20minute work out with a short warm up and cool down, but boy she crams in some good exercises! All you need is yourself and some hand weights (I use my Wii weights).

Take a look here for a video of the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and see if it looks like something you could do.

Have you tried the shred before?

  1. I love Jillian! I follow her on twitter she is such a movitor, she makes me want to work out more. Have you come across here yoga DVD’s?

    Stef….

  2. No I havn’t come across the DVD’s although I have never looked, I really do need to give Yoga a try at some point!

  3. ooooh interesting – I saw this DVD on sale and thought about getting it, but then was confused when there were only 3 workouts on the dvd so didnt buy it…but now it makes sense with what you say about doing the workout until you step up to the next level. I might get it and give it a go…what kind of hand weights do you need??

    1. I use my wii hand weights (1kg for both), but most people I’ve read about have used 3-5lb weights. My arms are not strong at all so mine are fine for now but I think i’ll get ones that are 1kg each once it starts getting easier then move up again when it gets easier.
