I have been wanting to try and make some Home made Peanut Butter for a long time now, my old food processor was falling apart and there is no way it would have handled it! When I got my new food processor, the Russell Hobbs Multi Food Processor I was excited to test it out with some nut butters.
I knew making home made peanut butter was a bit of a slow process, even though it was easy. Really all you do is put the peanuts into the food processor and after a certain amount of time you have yourself some home made peanut butter. Okay, so it is a little bit more advanced than that but the basic premise is that easy! What are you waiting for? Pick up a bag of raw Peanuts next time you are out and about so you can try it for yourself.
For my first attempt at making home made peanut butter I didn’t bother roasting the peanuts and just purchased raw unsalted ones from the baking aisle of the supermarket. Since it worked quite well next time I would roast the peanuts in the oven first to release some of the flavours and give the peanut butter that darker colour like the ones you get in the supermarket as you will notice mine was a lot lighter than the ones you get in the supermarket.
The biggest thing you need to remember when making the peanut butter is to have patience, it will look like not a lot is happening for a while and this is completely normal. I took a few photos each time I stopped the food processor for a minute to help show you the stages the peanuts go through before they turn into peanut butter.

Do you like Peanut Butter? Have you ever tried making any nut butters before?
I love this – will absolutely try…I guess the learning is to just persevere….I wonder where else in life this can be applied! 🙂
So true, it can be applied to pretty much everything in life!!
This looks pretty healthy. I want to try this with almonds.
Yep, so much better than the ones at the supermarket with the added ingredients that’s for sure! I want to try with almonds as well, I just need to get some more 🙂
Looks easy and would be so yummy! Ooh yeah, roasting them first would be amazing.
Definitely going to roast them first next time it would bring out the flavours and colours!
The difference of colour is amazing. Lovely article!
I never thought that it is so easy – thanks for posting!
