Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie Recipe

It’s winter which for me means I want something comforting when it comes to having a dessert. Something that can be eaten warm to help warm you up and that is where my Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie Recipe comes in.

Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie - Move Love Eat

My Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie has a slight hint of chilli which helps to warm you up from the inside out, if you heat it up before eating you will get a double dose of warmth to keep you nice and cosy through winter.

This Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie looks and tastes naughty but is actually pretty damn good health wise as the refined sugar you usually find in Brownies has been replaced with Equal Spoonful, a sweetener which can be used in baking spoon for spoon just like sugar.

I’ve written about sugar numerous times on the blog as well as my raging sweet tooth so it should come as no surprise to you all that I’m all for everything in moderation including this Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie.

If you’ve been a regular on my website you will be well aware that I am not a fan of dishes at all, the bonus with this Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie Recipe is that there are only a couple of dishes! The bowl you mix everything in and the pan you cook the brownies in along with the spatula. Three dishes #winning!

These Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownies can be altered to suit your tastes, if you’re not a fan of Chilli then simply leave it out. If you enjoy a bit of a crunch to your Brownie then add a few nuts to the recipe!

We had our Brownies plain and simple warmed up for about 20-30 seconds in the microwave with a side of fresh cream. This recipe makes a small batch of 10 reasonable sized brownies so you won’t have a tonne left over that you feel as though you need to eat every day for the rest of the week.

Gluten Free Chilli Chocolate Brownie Recipe
Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Oats
  • 100g Butter
  • 1 Cup Equal Spoonful
  • 3 Heaped Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Cap Vanilla Essence
  • 3 Eggs
  • 50grams Dark Chocolate (I used Cadbury Old Gold 70%)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Chilli Powder
  • Shake of Sea Salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius
  2. Put the oats into your food processor and process until it resembles flour.
  3. Add all of the other ingredients with the exception of the dark chocolate and process until combined.
  4. Chop the dark chocolate into small chunks, I cut each square of chocolate into quarters.
  5. Stir through the mixture.
  6. Spread into a brownie pan (mine was approx 25cm * 15cm)
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes. The top should be hard but when you poke a knife or skewer into it there should still be a little bit of gooiness.
  8. Allow to cool completely before cutting or else it may crumble apart.

Notes
This brownie is more of a cakey style brownie rather than a fudgey brownie due to the texture from the oat flour. Cooking for less time will assist in being more fudgey however you need to ensure you let it cool completely so it comes out of the pan well. Premature removal from the pan will likely result in a crumbly mess – you have been warned ;)[br]If you want it to be a bit more decadent double the chocolate chunks.
