Avocado Mousse Recipe

What if I told you, you could make a Chocolate Mousse with only three ingredients and a few minutes’ worth of work?

What if I told you that the star ingredient was a ripe Avocado?

I bet you just screwed your face up a little bit reading that….

I’ve seen a number of these recipes floating around Pinterest and the likes and wondered if they actually tasted good or not.

Good news is that they are super tasty, you can’t taste the avocado and you can adjust the recipe to suit your taste buds.

ChocAvoMousse

Ingredients
1 Avocado
Cacao Powder (Or Cocoa Powder)
Sweetener of your choice (I used agave nectar and a little bit of Maple Syrup in the end).

You can add a little bit of milk of your choice if you like, I used a couple of tablespoons of Almond Milk.

Directions
1. Mash up your avocado
2. Pop in your Cacao powder – Mix in – start with a teaspoon and increase as you taste it.
3. Pop in your Sweetener of choice – mix in – this will depend on how bitter you like your chocolate. Start with a teaspoon or two and work your way to your desired sweetness.
4. Use a stick blender or food processor to process so there are no lumps. (You could just use a whisk, fork or potato masher but you might be there for longer).
5. Taste test one last time and check it is suitable for your tastebuds.
6. Pop in the fridge for 20 minutes or more until your ready to eat.

Have you tried any sweet items using Avocado before?

    1. Hi Jenny, I brought mine online from Iherb (If you haven’t purchased from them before you can get a discount off your first order using my code: http://www.iherb.com/?rcode=LJC629 ) however you can buy it from health food stores. If your in auckland the bulk food place in Mt Eden on Dominion Road has it. Otherwise you can use honey or maple syrup in place of it in recipes 🙂

  1. I’ve always wondered what this was like but I’ve never tried it. I love avocado in my salads + on toast with tomato, so I’ll have to try hard to save one to give it a go!
