After buying some DVD’s from Amazon UK we came across the issue that they were not the same region as NZ, therefore they won’t play on the PS2 or PS3 and our old DVD player broked ages ago and has been yet to be replaced.
The idea was to play them on the laptop, however you can only change the region settings a certain number of times on the laptop before you can’t change it again, I’m down to my last change so I want to keep it on the NZ region.
Enter the ElCheapo DVD player from Dick Smith $34.90 – and you can change it to multi-region so it will play foreign DVDs’s. Win!
If you end up getting one then this is what you do to make it Multi-Region…
– Turn the player on.
– Press “open” on the remote
– press “8”, “2”, “8”, “6”, “0” – you will see “all region” on top left corner.
If you wish to change the region to another, replace the “0” with the required region.
I found this info on the DSE website, so thanks to whoever posted it!
Now fingers crossed it actually lasts!
Wow, that sounds confusing! I didn’t even know that would be a problem!
Yep it’s a bit of a pain but easily fixed so not too bad, now I can buy heaps of cheap DVD’s! Maybe not the best idea 😉
