Each month (when I remember, and have the time!) I take a look back at the month that has been and write about some of the things that happened, or that I tried and I loved each month!
October has seen a number of exciting posts go up on the blog (some with awesome competitions!), check out the following posts if you want to get in the draw to win!
– 6 Unexpected Benefits of Coconut Water
– Mongolian Beef Noodle Bowl Recipe
– 6 Ways to Fiercely Achieve everything you want in life
Anyway, on to the things I loved in October 2016!
// Oceania Selection
The highlight of my month was being selected to compete for New Zealand at the Oceania Powerlifting Competition being held in Christchurch in December. You can read more about the selection HERE and if you are interested I’m sure there will be a live feed of the event – I’m lifting on the 7th December. This is the first time I’ve been super excited to wear a powerlifting suit (they aren’t very flatting!) as it will have the silver fern on it!
// Mud Muster
We did the Mud Muster in 2015 and 2016 and both years we had a lot of fun. Events like this are so much more fun when there are a few of you doing it together I reckon! We will definitely be doing the event again next year – we just have to come up with a fun new costume idea.
// Bridal Shower
I can’t even believe that this was this month, it seems like so long ago now! At the start of the month I went up to Auckland for my lovely friend Sam’s bridal shower. It was an awesome afternoon with a great bunch of ladies, and the nana in me is secretly glad she didn’t have a raging all-nighter as I was in bed pretty early that night 😉
// Weekend of Blogging
The weekend just been I spent the weekend catching up on some blogging and bootcamp related admin work which has been nice. Kyle was away for the weekend so I had pretty much the whole weekend to myself. I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped too, but I guess you can never be on top of it all when you run three businesses and work part time as well!
// Scent of the Month
This month I’ve gone with one of our new releases as the scent of the month, I’m a huge Chai Latte fan and if you are too then I think you’ll really love Cozy Chai!
// Warmer of the Month
Love Heals – this beautiful red warmer is our warmer of the month. Not only is it super pretty – $13NZD from every warmer sold is being donated to Starlight. The perfect gift for your mum or sister this Christmas! (Yes, sorry I said the C word!).
// Currently Reading
I’m in the middle of reading Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson (AKA The Blogess), it’s a great read. It’s nice that it’s written by a blogger and she has a great sense of humour. The Beef and Human story had me literally crying with laughter. There are darker parts of the book where she discusses her mental illnesses and how this affects her which I’m sure those with similar illnesses will be able to relate to really well, all up it’s a great read. Read a few of her blog posts and if you like them then you’ll love the book.
Those are a few of the things I’ve been loving in October, and here are a few things I’m looking forward to in November…
// Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon has been on my Bucket list, since forever! I’ve been told by everyone that I know that has been here that it is amazing and nothing can prepare you for how awesome it is. We didn’t make it to the Canyon on our last trip to Las Vegas so we made a point to add in a couple of days to go and check out the Canyon this time around.
// Iron Maori Triathlon
I am and I’m not looking forward to this. I am because it’s a weekend away somewhere we don’t go very often (Napier), and I’m not because it’s right before we go overseas for three weeks and we have a lot to get done. Plus, errrm I have to bike 45km and I haven’t done any training, because I’m lazy when it comes to cardio and I’m a below average cyclist. My work put in a few teams and I was lumped with cycling, which is definitely not my best discipline, but I’ll take it over a swim any day of the week.
// New York, New York
We are going to New York freaking city! I am super excited about this, and a little bit scared. New York is such a big city I’m a bit worried I’ll get lost, and it’ll be too noisy at night time. We have rented a converted basement apartment for the 8 days we are in New York which will be nice as we will have a little home away from home. Plus we can get our washing done 😉
What did you enjoy in October? What are you looking forward to in November?
