Here we are again with our September edition of Things I Love! September was one of those months where there was a lot on, I had a little panic when I flipped my calendar over on the 1st September as there was writing and highlighting all over the show and it just felt a little cluttered.
It actually turned out to be a very good month and I have really enjoyed it, so let’s see what things were stand out’s for me this month!
// Viberi
I’ll let you in on a little secret, I don’t like berries. I never have, with the exception of strawberries I have just never been able to enjoy any other type of berry because of the seeds in them. I believe this is also the reason I don’t like kiwifruit or tomato! So when I was sent some of these Viberi blackcurrants I was dubious I would like them. I tried the Dark Chocolate Rolled Blackcurrants first and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the organic blackcurrants are rolled in the highest grade organic Belgian chocolate available and they are delicious! The dark chocolate is nice and rich and not too sweet and the blackcurrants give this lovely tartness in the middle. I ate them all pretty quickly!
// Pouakai Zoo
On our week break inbetween intakes from Bootcamp we headed up to Hamilton to see Kyles family and took the long way there. We went via New Plymouth so we could check out the Pouakai Zoo which is home to two white bengal tigers who are beautiful! Tigers have been my favourite animal for as long as I can remember. When the opportunity came up to purchase tickets to the tiger feeding at the Zoo I couldn’t help myself so we went along and fed the tigers and the monkeys and spend an hour or so just wandering around taking in the animals in this little zoo.
// Daylight Savings
What’s not to love about Daylight savings rolling around, sure it means it’s going to be a bit darker in the morning for a few weeks until it lightens up again, but it does mean that summer is getting so close we can almost smells the BBQs in the air! I am stoked that we are going to have more daylight in the evenings and it also means that we are that much closer to Christmas which means the summer shut down at work and it also means we can go camping again which means exploring new places!
// Early Bird
I’ve never been a morning person EVER. Getting up before 9am has always been a chore so it’s nice that my body is slowly getting used to getting up earlier. While I doubt I will ever be the early riser that Kyle is, getting up earlier is becoming easier and not so much a chore now. I am really appreciating that my body is getting used to it as it is nice to be up and getting things done knowing that most people are still in bed.
// Scent of the Month
My scent of the month for September for my Wickless Candles has definitely got to be Sugar Cookie! I was a bit nervous about warming Sugar Cookie as I thought it might make me crave cookies as it is a nice sweet smell however I haven’t felt like that yet which is nice. Sugar Cookie is nice and strong but smells like vanilla more than anything else and is a really pleasant smell to come home too. It’s also something different from the more fruity scents that I usually go for.
