Ginger Bliss Ball Recipe

I must admit I am not a huge fan of ginger, however I LOVE this ginger bliss ball recipe! Like I seriously love it!

I have created these ginger bliss balls at such a bad time as I am currently trying to loose a bit of weight and find where my abs have been hiding! Lucky for me that one of these ginger bliss balls is only around 100 calories and one is the perfect size for a treat!

Ginger Bliss Ball Recipe

While I was buying the dried strawberries for my Strawberries and Cream Bliss Balls, I saw crystallized ginger. Kyle likes ginger so I thought I might as well try to make him some Ginger bliss balls. At the time I had no idea how I was going to make it work but somehow it all came together!

I must admit that I am not a huge fan of ginger myself, I don’t mind it but only if it’s quite subtle. I had a feeling I was going to be eating the strawberries and cream bliss balls and Kyle would be eating these ginger bliss balls. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried one of these Ginger Bliss Balls and really enjoyed them, like REALLY enjoyed them! (Yeah I know, I already said that at the start right?!)

Ginger Bliss Balls

Keep a couple of pieces of ginger aside so that you can decorate the top of the ginger bliss balls. Not only does it make them look super festive, it also adds a little bit more ginger flavour to the bliss balls which is a really nice added touch.

With only four ingredients these ginger bliss balls are so easy to make and you’ll most likely find you have most of the ingredients already. You will need to chop the ginger a little before putting it into your food processor just to help your food processor out and to help ensure everything gets processed nice and evenly.

Cuisine: Snacks, Dessert
Author: Amanda @ Move Love Eat
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup crystalised ginger
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 3/4 cup shredded coconut or coconut chips
  • 100 grams dark chocolate (I used half a king size block of Cadbury Old Gold 70%)
Instructions
  1. Cut the ginger up into small slices.
  2. Add the ginger, cashews and coconut to your food processor and process until combined.
  3. Roll into small balls (I made 20 from this mixture).
  4. Please the ball into the freezer to harden.
  5. Melt the chocolate in either a bain marie or in the microwave.
  6. Coat the balls with chocolate (if you have some ginger left over add a tiny piece too the top for decoration).
  7. Return the balls to the freezer for 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
  8. The balls can be kept at room temperature unless it is really hot then they will need to be kept in the fridge to stop the chocolate from melting.

These Ginger bliss balls are naturally gluten free and can be made to be vegan or dairy free by substituting the chocolate for their vegan and dairy free brothers.

I mentioned in my strawberries and cream bliss ball recipe that these are higher in sugar than most other snacks I make due to both the chocolate and the crystallized ginger so remember to keep your servings nice and small for these. One ball is approximately 100 calories so having one or two every now and again should be fine for most people 🙂
