Ultimate Camping Packing List!

Since we got a tent for Christmas we have been putting it to use a little and will be putting it to use more over the next month or so while the weather stays nice and warm. I have put together an ultimate camping packing list for those of you who might also be thinking about camping sometime soon.

Ultimate Camping Packing List

What you need to take will depend on where you are camping, if you are going somewhere like the Upper Mangatawhiri Campground in the Hunua Ranges which is literally somewhere to pitch your tent and a long drop for a toilet you will need to take a lot more with you than you would if you were camping at a holiday park.

Here is my Ultimate Camping Packing List (In no particular order!)

Tent
Toilet Paper
Water – Make sure you have plenty for drinking and some to help rinse dishes!
Stove / Gas (or wood if there is a BBQ at your site)
Pot / Frying Pan
Snacks – biscuits / nuts / fruit / vege sticks / coffee / tea / milk powder
Blankets / Sleeping Bag
Warm Clothes (Take more than you think you will need!)
Drink bottles for day hikes / mountain biking
Book to read / kindle charged
Light / Head lamp
Plastic bag to take your rubbish out with you
Something to flip your food (Spatula!)
Cutlery / Plates / Cups
Camera / Spare Batteries
Sunscreen / Insect Repellent
Baby Wipes / Sanitiser (Baby wipes feel amazing to give yourself a quick clean!)
Food for breakky / lunch / dinner
Something to sleep on / pump airbed up with
Chairs to sit on
Esky / Chilly Bin + Ice Packs
Towels if you will be able to swim
Candle for mozzies / matches
Pad / paper / pens to write down ideas
Cards if you want something easy to pack to pass the time
Sneakers – for hikes in the bush

Ultimate Camping Packing List - Move Love Eat

It can be a bit of a pain lugging all of this around for only a day or two, the good thing is that if you are going for longer you won’t need much more than this. Just additional food, water and perhaps another change of clothes. We found our meat kept well in our chilly bin with ice packs and some of the meat being frozen for our two days however I wouldn’t have been keen to try for any longer than this.

Is there anything else I have missed?? What do you usually take camping??
