Eat: Tea Time

I have been on a bit of a herbal tea buzz lately, partly because the weather has cooled a little and partly as a measure to try to drink even more water during the day. There are three main tea’s I have been using over the past few weeks.

Green Tea
Green tea has been said to aid your metabolism and help regulate blood sugar levels. Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of green tea I do like the ones that have a touch of lemon in them to give them a little bit more flavour.

Chai Tea
I love Chai tea, it just tastes good. I drink it like I would a standard cup of tea with milk and a little sweetener. Chai boasts benefits including improving digestion, enhancing the immune system, fighting inflammation and has antioxidant properties.

Peppermint Tea
Naturally caffeine free, peppermint tea has been said to aid digestion. Peppermint tea is also said to help relax you and is good before bed time. I have been drinking it during the day at work sometimes when I have been feeling stressed and it has helped to relax me.

While I’m no scientist so am not backing up the above claims I don’t see the harm in giving some of the herbal teas a go and see what you like and what works for you. As with everything we should be trying to have a moderate amount rather than going for gold and having 10 cups per day.

Do you drink herbal teas? What is your favourite hot drink?
