Healthy: Things to remember

Last year I managed to get my exercise well and truly sorted which brings me to this year and FOOD.
Food has always been chucked in the too hard pile for me as I like sweet foods far too much to think about giving them up and am a pretty fussy eater.

By the end of 2013 things will be different, I’m already eating a lot cleaner than I ever have yet have still been letting the odd bad thing sneak in. I want to minimize this and have treats for what they are; treats.

I skim read Food Rules again last night (recommended) and the following are basic but solid advice.
It’s not food if it arrived through the window of your car.

Eat when you are hungry, not when you are bored. (This is key for me, I eat when I am emotional, and this means both happy and sad)

imageShop the peripheries of the supermarket and stay out of the middle.  (I’m getting better at this, currently I only venture into the middle for weight watchers jelly and canned chicken)
A friend gave me this book to read after she was talking about it and I mentioned I’d like to read it. It was an easy read with no non-sense. It was a little basic for me as I’m ok with the exercise side of things but she also gives some simple but solid advice.

Get over it, we all have the same 24 hours.  Aka if other people can exercise, why can’t you… no excuses.

Don’t like vegetables or salad? Oh dear, spoilt as well as fat are you? Ok ouch – but good point, eat what is good for you, your tastes will change. Hey I never used to like avocado or cucumber I now love Avo and can tolerate cucumber.

No stuffing your face for yesterdays exertions. You do not deserve it. WORD.

Finally, Eat Less Crap & Drink more Water.

So simple but easy to forget!

Do you have any other tips?

  1. Wow, those tips really get to the point haha. I think my big one is not to reward myself with food. Ever. I’m actually resisting temptation well at the moment 🙂 I tend to want to eat my feelings when I want to recover from an emotional upset, to treat myself. Other times I try to reward myself for having me-time or because I have more time to cook (which is rare). So that’s my big one. I mostly just make myself accountable to my fitnesspal app – that keeps me on the straight and narrow (hopefully narrow haha).
    Good luck 🙂
