Supposedly 2012 is the last year that we will have a Big Day Out in New Zealand due to a lack of people at the event. Attending BDO this year compared to other years you can definitely tell there is a lack of people attending which is a bummer as it really is a good day out, although given the ticket prices I’m not surprised the turn out has been getting smaller with each year.
For me the best act was definitely the first one we went to see – Cage the Elephant – the pictures below show the singer crowd surfing right in front of us!
After Cage the Elephant the weather turned a little and it began to rain, after hiding out and finding food and a drink (check out the cool can’s no wonder they are losing $), we made our way around a few stages to have a look before finding good seats and settling in for the night to watch Soundgarden.
Another highlight for me personally was definitely Gin Wigmore, I’ve seen her live before but I was way closer for this one and could actually see her. She is all kinds of amazing.
Then we saw this guy, my hero, we were there for the exact same reason 😉
It’s disappointing that the event most likely will not be back for another year, although not surprising at all given the lack of people at the event.
I can’t for the life of me work out how to take awesome night-time photo’s on my camera unless I use a tripod, so the above Soundgarden picture is about the best I got, sad I know.
Any tips on how what settings to put the camera on for night-time shots?
