Last week we were to be working in New Plymouth from Tuesday to Friday, two different jobs at two different places – 1 on Tuesday/Wednesday and the other on Thursday/Friday.
The first job went fine, we had a nice room overlooking the sea and made me wish we could have nice views from our office.
We turned up on Thursday morning to find police surrounding the whole complex of where we were supposed to be working… Noone was to be let into the area, and the female cop we spoke to was not helpful in the slightest.
The decision was made to go back to the motel, pack up our stuff and head back to Wanganui to continue other work in the office as we had no idea how long it would be until we were allowed to enter the building.
I scanned the online news papers and asked for updates on twitter and couldn’t find a lot, the next day however the news reported that some major drug/gang related business had gone down in New Plymouth!

It appears that the building we were supposed to work in was near the complex that some of these raids were going on! I’ve worked at this place before and never would have thought anything odd was going on around the area – it just goes to show that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover!
